Are We Becoming Too Used to Horror/Bad News?

I did a little traveling today and guess what I experienced. A journey of normally six hours on road, took us extra three hours. I was expecting to get to my destination latest, six or seven p.m. but I ended up reaching around 9 p.m. Why? We entered deadlocked traffic at different places caused by tragic accidents that had just happened. I can count up to four, five trailers that tumbled on the road or smashed into bush part at different points. At one point, I couldn't just bring myself to look at the tragic situation: they were bringing out dead bodies that just went to their early graves from a bridge where they just smashed into. What everyone did was normal, shake their heads and life continues. I guess we really have become used to tragedy. It now looks natural for people to die anyhow and it means nothing.

When Bokoharam insurgency started in Nigeria, people used to shudder when they hear things like, "ten people or so, so number people got bombed at so, so, place." But now, it no longer means much to open a newspaper with a headline: "Ten Die in a Bomb Blast in so, so Church." Not a big news anymore as it were. Some years ago, when we go for evangelism, we used to preach and say, "Bible prophecy says we shall hear of rumours of war: it is happening in Irak; It is happening in Sudan; it is happening in Pakistan, etc" You know, trying to remind people of the urgency of the end time. But soon it started happening in our own border too. Now, it looks like we are becoming used to the negative news. When abnormal things happen, people frown it and seek for immediate solution but now abnormality is celebrated.

In our generation it is now normal for a man to wake up and go and woo his fellow man for marriage. And the society that should check his psyche is now backing him up. The women the same. Oh what a shamelessness! Nothing attracts attention like abnormality nowadays. In fact, for news to sell these days, it must contain sexual appealing contents, romance, horror and terror.

Man have become a terror to himself indeed. Lie sells. Rumour sells.

In all these, is there any hope for man?

Yes, the only hope is Christ Jesus. He is the way, the truth and life; no one comes to the father but through Him. He said come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. He promised to give us His peace not as the world gives. Looking at what is happening in the world, people may faint and get weary. But submitting one's life to Christ is the only assurance of hope. Please don't delay, there is peace in Christ.

What We Represent

Ride The Tide Tide is the periodic variation in the surface level of the oceans and of bays, gulfs, inlets, and estuaries, caused by gravitational attraction of the moon and sun (The American Heritage Dictionary).  Just as the physical tide exists with its implications in our environment, a spiritual tide also exists in the life of a human being which tend to rise occasionally. And when it does rise, many are not well equipped to handle issues.  In this platform, we expose you to the fact that the tide can be turned to your favour, for with God nothing is impossible. How one is going to react in the midst of a tide, whether you will ride over it (turning it to your favour) or not is dependent on the quality of your spirit. We believe it is only the word of God that gives quality to a man's spirit. We use the phrase "Ride The Tide" because it captures the inspiration well in our heart. contact: chuks4flourish@gmail.com

The Issue With Wealth

It has been said that wealth is a reward for value. I agree a million times. I was discussing with a friend over something and he said, "What I want is the one that will be bringing money quick, quick". Immediately he said that I was taken aback. This kind of statement is what would be glaring, were you to cut open many hearts. But the truth is that only one percent of the world's population are controlling the wealth , others are just following and wishing they were more lucky. The average man on the street is hustling believing that one day more than enough money will enter his account. If a new flourishing business comes to town you will see everyone running into it looking for wealth. If for instance Nigeria discovers oil in a new sight now, many will rush to become oil workers. They are all in search of wealth. They need more money (ego, kudi, owo)! But on the other hand, wealth creators or rather value creators do not move with the trend or the hassles rath...
