Kindness -

Scriptural Highlight: (Proverbs 3:3-4) - "Let not kindness and truth forsake thee: Bind them about thy neck; Write them upon the tablet of thy heart: So shalt thou find favor and good understanding In the sight of God and man." Today's scriptural highlight admonishes us not to let kindness and truth depart from us. Kindness is a special treatment given to someone to make the person happy and to have an impression of being special. While truth is simply what God's word says: the Bible says that the "word of God is truth". Kindness is the outworking of God's love in our heart towards our neigbbours, our environment or society at large. As Children of God we are being enjoined to bind kindness like a cloak. What that means is that kindness should be seen in us everyday, every hour and every second. Some show kindness when they see someone they feel will be able help them with something, later; some show kindness when they feel it will give them good opini

Make Alliance With Righteous Causes

Scriptural Highlight: ( 2Kings 9:17 ) - "Now the watchman was standing on the tower in Jezreel, and he saw the company of Jehu as he came and said, 'I see a company.' And Joram said, 'Take a horseman and send to meet them and let them say, 'is it well'. So a man on horseback went to meet them and said, 'Thus says the king, 'is it peace?' And Jehu answered, 'what do you have to do with peace? Turn and ride behind me." Our scriptural highlight for today showcases a scene of battle between righteousness and evil. Joram king of Israel belonged to the family of Ahab and Jezebel, people that have troubled Israel with their sorcery, covetousness and blood spills. And a word of prophecy from Elijah had gone out against this evil house saying, "Behold, I will bring evil upon thee, and will utterly sweep thee away and will cut off from Ahab every man-child...(1Kings 21:21). So, in effect, God located Jehu and anointed him to fight

What Image are you carrying?

Scriptural Highlight: ( Genesis 5:3 ) - "When Adam had lived 130 years, he fathered a son in his own likeness, after his image, and named him Seth." Our scriptural highlight for today is about the generations of Adam after creation. Reading down from verses 1 and  2 of this Genesis chapter 5, we can see that when God created man, he made him in the likeness of God. Man was made in God's image; and as God's image was meant to reproduce God's image as well. You can say that man was god on earth. Man operated in a realm higher than any other creature. Man was in a class of his own. Man remained God's image until he disobeyed God. From our scriptural highlight today, what we see is that when Abraham had lived 130 years, he fathered a son in his own likeness, after his image. What happened to the image and likeness of God in which he was created? It has been lost through sin. The nature he now carried was his own image and not God's.  His own offspring

Appeal for Consecration

Scriptural Highlight : ( Romans12:1 ) - "I appeal to you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship." In this scripture, God is making an appeal through the writer, Apostle Paul. What is an appeal? To appeal is to make an earnest request for something; another meaning of  appeal is to make a review on something. So in our scriptural highlight, Paul was earnestly requesting that brethren (believers in Christ) in Rome present their bodies to God as a living sacrifices; Paul was reviewing a charge he already gave to the Roman church - that is to say, God was re-emphasizing to the church the need to submit themselves as living sacrifices. Also notice that the appeal God was making through Paul was based on the mercies of God: "I appeal to you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God..." It is as if Paul was saying in essence, "brethren wh

Realm of Solutions

Scriptural Highlight: ( Mathew 15:32-33 ) - "Then  Jesus called His disciples and said, "I have compassion on the crowd because they have been  with me now three days and have nothing to eat. And I am unwilling to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way." From our scriptural highlight let's note the following: The crowd have been with Jesus for three days; Jesus by Himself noticed and felt the need in the life of the crowd which is at that moment, hunger; Jesus made moves to solve the immediate problems He noticed in the life of the crowd. Beloved let's learn from the actions of Jesus in our scriptural highlight for today. When we forgo everything to be with Jesus, our problems becomes God's problem. When we stay in the atmosphere of God's presence, He Himself notices our needs and begins to move on our behalf. Most times we are in a haste in God's presence; we rush out before we have even made any qual

No Man, No Rain

Scriptural Highlight : ( Genesis 2:5 )- "There was no plants or grain sprouting up across the earth at first, for the Lord God hadn't sent any rain; nor was there anyone to farm the soil." In our scriptural highlight for today, the Bible is describing the generations of heaven and the earth - that is, the creation process. At that time there was no plants or grain sprouting up across the earth because the Lord God hadn't sent any rain. There was no man to farm the soil yet. Note well that God is orderly in His dealings. He made the world in such a way that one thing depended on another. He followed a certain order. Plants couldn't just grow  unless their was rain. So at the time under question why did God restrain the rain? Why was there no rain? Because if it rains, plants will definitely grow.Let's take note that plants are good things for the earth; plants are parts of the things needed to support life on the earth. Plants represents the bles

You Shall Floursh

Scriptural Highlight: ( Psalm 92:12_13 ) - "The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Labanon; plated in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the  courts of our God." The name of our devotional  in this platform is Daily Flourish and the revelation behind it is simply our scriptural highlight for today. The word of God is telling us today the undeniable attributes of the righteous: they flourish. To flourish is to succeed despite obstacles, challenges or bad climate. To flourish is to bring forth praise unto God. Today's devotional will not be enough to exhaust what it means for the righteous to flourish what is important is for you to understand what God has made us to become. Firstly, why did God compare the success of the righteous to that of palm tree? The palm tree is a tree whose growth is unique : In some conditions it may take long before it springs up but definitely it would spring up. There is nothing about

God's Glory

Scriptural Highlight: ( Isaiah 60:1 ) - "Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you."

Don't Sell Your Worth

Scriptural Highlight : ( Jeremiah 2:5 ) - "This is what the Lord says: "What fault did your fathers find in me, that they strayed  so far from me? They  followed worthless idols and became worthless themselves."

GO BY HIS POWER

GO BY HIS POWER Scriptural Highlight: (Philippians 4:13 ESV) - "For I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." God has the ability to empower you to do any assignment for His kingdom. Being a disciple for Christ requires extraordinary strength and power. Bible admonishes us in Ephesians 6:11-12 to: " Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places." From this scripture, we see that evil have forces that enforce its influence over people. Merriam Webster' Dictionary defines an aspect of force as "a body (as of troops or ships) assigned to a military purpose". So the spiritual forces we saw in Ephesians 6:12 have one purpose, and that is to make sure that evil is reigning in the

SEEK IN THE RIGHT PLACES.

SEEK IN THE RIGHT PLACES. Scriptural Highlight: ( Luke 24:5-6 KJV ) - "And they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee," When Jesus was with His disciples before His crucification, He spoke of His death. He also spoke of His resurrection from the dead on the third day. But when the prophecy came to fulfillment, the disciples seemed to be lagging behind. These women religiously came to do their good work of anointing Jesus' body. They hoped to find His dead body, when the tide had already turned. The other day it was ok; but this day, no; they were lagging behind prophecy. They are now seeking the living among the dead. He has risen and has no more business with the grave. The angels had to remind them the words of Jesus again, how Jesus spoke to them of His resurrection when He was yet in Galilee. Belo

A CRY FOR MERCY!

A CRY FOR MERCY! Scriptural Highlight: ( Psalm 90: 14 KJV ) - "Satisfy us early with thy mercy that we may rejoice and be glad all our days." Mercy is the unfailing love of God towards a man. It is when God  overlooks  your weaknesses and your deficiencies. Mercy qualifies a man to do or achieve things he may not be qualified for. When mercy is upon a man's life, certain doors he would never have crossed opens for him without sweat. Mercy prepares the way for favour to work in a man's life. However, when mercy is lacking, men struggle in vain; they labour like elephants and eat like ants. When mercy is lacking in a man's life, just like Cain in Genesis 4:5, even his sacrifices are rejected. Ever seen someone lamenting his ordeal before? How he served people well and did a lot of good, yet the good works are taken for granted; the payment he received after all these good works is resentment. It is likely that mercy is lacking. People without mercy ar

GOD IS YOUR SHIELD   Scriptural Highlight: ( Job 3:5 ) - " But put forth thy hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face." Beloved, looking closely at our scriptural highlight for today, you can easily see the devil's wish against God's children -evil. He is always making moves to destroy us, and to destroy the testimony we have in Christ. He suggested to  God to put forth His hand to harm Job. In John 10:10 Jesus revealed to us that "the thief (devil) comes to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly." But one thing we must note in this scriptural highlight is the helplessness of the devil where it concerns God's children. He has no power over us; he cannot even harm nor hinder us. The shield of God is always surrounding us. In Jesus we have life in abundance. In fact, after the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, we (believers in Jesus) were made to be seate

GOD STOOPED DOWN TO STEP YOU UP. Scriptural Highlight : John 8:8 "Again He stooped down and wrote on the ground." Reading down the passage to our scriptural highlight, a sinner had just been caught; every evidence to nail her was there; and from what the law required, the woman deserved to die. But Jesus who came to seek and save the lost had a different idea. Dear, I do not know the things that have condemned you or the evidences the enemy is using to afflict your life.I know you could have entered into the mess lawfully. And just like the woman caught in the act of adultery, you are helplessly overwhelmed by by the situation. I have a good news from the God of (Isaiah 49:25), you are freed from the mighty oppressor-Just look to Jesus, He stooped down to step us up to grace. Flourish!
