Make Alliance With Righteous Causes

Scriptural Highlight: ( 2Kings 9:17 ) - "Now the watchman was standing on the tower in Jezreel, and he saw the company of Jehu as he came and said, 'I see a company.' And Joram said, 'Take a horseman and send to meet them and let them say, 'is it well'. So a man on horseback went to meet them and said, 'Thus says the king, 'is it peace?' And Jehu answered, 'what do you have to do with peace? Turn and ride behind me." Our scriptural highlight for today showcases a scene of battle between righteousness and evil. Joram king of Israel belonged to the family of Ahab and Jezebel, people that have troubled Israel with their sorcery, covetousness and blood spills. And a word of prophecy from Elijah had gone out against this evil house saying, "Behold, I will bring evil upon thee, and will utterly sweep thee away and will cut off from Ahab every man-child...(1Kings 21:21). So, in effect, God located Jehu and anointed him to fight

MY PAST HUNTS ME! HOW DO I DEAL WITH IT NOW THAT AM IN CHRIST?

DRAW A LINE BETWEEN YOUR PAST AND YOUR FUTURE ! Many people come to Christ daily but battle with the memories of their past life which probably was rough, painful or traumatic. I have seen many people who struggled to live their new found faith in Christ just because a terrible past life comes hunting: I have seen some who got delivered from occult involvements, terrible abuses, sexual lifestyles and other dehumanizing struggles battling to live the Christian life because of the height of what they had been through. For some of them even when God has forgiven their sins, they find it hard to forgive themselves. So the devil takes advantage of the struggle, self condemnation or guilt to hinder their growth in the things of the spirit. But the Bible teaches that, he that is in Christ is a new creation, old things are past away and behold all things are new. No matter what a person has done, as long as the person has not grieved the Holy Spirit, he can be saved. So the que

Counsel: Sis. Ella

Relationship: "I Don't Wants To Fall Prey!" Sis. Ella:   " Bro Oleka, good morning Sir. It's been a long time. I trust you are fine and still moving in the Faith. Sir please I want to confide in you on something very serious and important. I believe you can help me in the place of prayer and advice too. I got into a relationship with a brother friend of mine. He is born again and very spiritual. Everything have been o.k, but we are having emotional problems presently. We know it's a plot from Satan, so  I need your prayers and words from you. I don't want to fall prey!" This was a text message that greeted my phone one morning before a call from the dear sister woke me up. Below are the conversation that we had based on the text, later on, when I was ready to counsel:   Ride The Tide:  " Hi Sis. Ella, tell me more about your relationship. First of all, is it God that is bringing you guys together?"   Sis. Ella: "Ye

What Image are you carrying?

Scriptural Highlight: ( Genesis 5:3 ) - "When Adam had lived 130 years, he fathered a son in his own likeness, after his image, and named him Seth." Our scriptural highlight for today is about the generations of Adam after creation. Reading down from verses 1 and  2 of this Genesis chapter 5, we can see that when God created man, he made him in the likeness of God. Man was made in God's image; and as God's image was meant to reproduce God's image as well. You can say that man was god on earth. Man operated in a realm higher than any other creature. Man was in a class of his own. Man remained God's image until he disobeyed God. From our scriptural highlight today, what we see is that when Abraham had lived 130 years, he fathered a son in his own likeness, after his image. What happened to the image and likeness of God in which he was created? It has been lost through sin. The nature he now carried was his own image and not God's.  His own offspring

Appeal for Consecration

Scriptural Highlight : ( Romans12:1 ) - "I appeal to you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship." In this scripture, God is making an appeal through the writer, Apostle Paul. What is an appeal? To appeal is to make an earnest request for something; another meaning of  appeal is to make a review on something. So in our scriptural highlight, Paul was earnestly requesting that brethren (believers in Christ) in Rome present their bodies to God as a living sacrifices; Paul was reviewing a charge he already gave to the Roman church - that is to say, God was re-emphasizing to the church the need to submit themselves as living sacrifices. Also notice that the appeal God was making through Paul was based on the mercies of God: "I appeal to you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God..." It is as if Paul was saying in essence, "brethren wh

Realm of Solutions

Scriptural Highlight: ( Mathew 15:32-33 ) - "Then  Jesus called His disciples and said, "I have compassion on the crowd because they have been  with me now three days and have nothing to eat. And I am unwilling to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way." From our scriptural highlight let's note the following: The crowd have been with Jesus for three days; Jesus by Himself noticed and felt the need in the life of the crowd which is at that moment, hunger; Jesus made moves to solve the immediate problems He noticed in the life of the crowd. Beloved let's learn from the actions of Jesus in our scriptural highlight for today. When we forgo everything to be with Jesus, our problems becomes God's problem. When we stay in the atmosphere of God's presence, He Himself notices our needs and begins to move on our behalf. Most times we are in a haste in God's presence; we rush out before we have even made any qual

Heavy Weight In The Making

When am building strength, I don't see the strength. But when am done building strength I start seeing strength. Today's heavy weights were yesterday's lighter weights. They just kept building their strength. Every professional was an amateur. Ever seen people braking strong large rocks. They keep hitting over and over: one, ten, twenty, on an on, until a final strike shatters the rock to pieces. It was not just that one final blow that did the magic; every single blow was part of the shattering work. But the blows just had to keep hitting the rock for the final effect to come by. What a life lesson. Work is simply forfeiting today's ease for bigger, better and more rewarding comfort tomorrow. But don't work hard, work smart. Working Hard

Men are made in pressure

Most of the precious things we use in life are produced by pressure. Gold is refined under intense heat and pressure. To get the juice from an orange, pressure is applied. In the same way, certain heats are needed to produce men. There is a  tendency to relax as long as no one is applying pressure on your life. Some people will never have built houses if not that Landlord has pressured them. Some will never do anything unless there is quick reward. The law of motion states that a body continues at rest or uniform motion on a straight line unless external force is applied: so with many people in destiny. Many people will never move forward unless nudged. That's why God gave us words of inspiration and motivation. No matter how down or battered a man maybe in destiny, there is something he'll hear and a new life will be infused again. However, never wait for motivation. Great men in destiny are known to be self motivated. It's better to learn through

Vision and Life

Where there is no vision, the people perish (Proverbs 29:18).  Abraham saw a vision: The vision separated Him from comfort zone. Remember that at more than 70 he was still in his fathers house. The vision took him on an unknown journey. The vision made him to stand alone, save for his wife and lot. The vision unveiled his life. The vision blessed his life and his generation. Note: Lack of vision is what ties people down on a not too good venture. Lack of vision makes one unsatisfied yet each morning he is rushing off to "slave house" called work Lack of vision makes people afraid of risks. Lack of vision makes one afraid to stand on his convictions - a situation where opinion is the ruler of destiny. Fear of failure (unknown) is the greatest vision killer.

No Man, No Rain

Scriptural Highlight : ( Genesis 2:5 )- "There was no plants or grain sprouting up across the earth at first, for the Lord God hadn't sent any rain; nor was there anyone to farm the soil." In our scriptural highlight for today, the Bible is describing the generations of heaven and the earth - that is, the creation process. At that time there was no plants or grain sprouting up across the earth because the Lord God hadn't sent any rain. There was no man to farm the soil yet. Note well that God is orderly in His dealings. He made the world in such a way that one thing depended on another. He followed a certain order. Plants couldn't just grow  unless their was rain. So at the time under question why did God restrain the rain? Why was there no rain? Because if it rains, plants will definitely grow.Let's take note that plants are good things for the earth; plants are parts of the things needed to support life on the earth. Plants represents the bles

The Gift of God

Scriptural Highlight : ( John 3:16) - "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life." Our scriptural highlight for today talks about God's love for the world. God loved the world. He didn't just stop  at "I love the world", He gave. And what God gave was His only Son, Jesus Christ. One day I made some sacrifices that cost me something big; I thought this was it; God must appreciate this. God offcourse appreciated but He told me something. He said to me "Until you give your all....." There is nothing we can do for God that outweighs what He already did for us. Some people become unusually proud because maybe they sponsored God's work, or their tithe is usually bigger than others and all that. If not for the gift of Jesus, the world was doomed; we were headed for death, we were in the world without hope. The gift of Jesus was simply the love of God rea

You Shall Floursh

Scriptural Highlight: ( Psalm 92:12_13 ) - "The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Labanon; plated in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the  courts of our God." The name of our devotional  in this platform is Daily Flourish and the revelation behind it is simply our scriptural highlight for today. The word of God is telling us today the undeniable attributes of the righteous: they flourish. To flourish is to succeed despite obstacles, challenges or bad climate. To flourish is to bring forth praise unto God. Today's devotional will not be enough to exhaust what it means for the righteous to flourish what is important is for you to understand what God has made us to become. Firstly, why did God compare the success of the righteous to that of palm tree? The palm tree is a tree whose growth is unique : In some conditions it may take long before it springs up but definitely it would spring up. There is nothing about

I CAN'T HIDE AGAIN

I wanted to hide what I carry. I thought that to release is to loose, Until withholding made me smell. It choked me and vexed my soul, How much more neighbours. Now I've learn't the secrete; The river was my teacher. I looked to the river and saw its beauty. It flows, glides, and reflects. Because when it outflows, then there is room for inflow. I can't hide again! I must shine! I must flow! I am the river of God. What about you?

God's Glory

Scriptural Highlight: ( Isaiah 60:1 ) - "Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you."
