Scriptural Highlight: (Genesis 2:5)-
"There was no plants or grain sprouting up across the earth at first, for
the Lord God hadn't sent any rain; nor was there anyone to farm the soil."
In our scriptural highlight for today, the Bible
is describing the generations of heaven and the earth - that is, the creation process.
At that time there was no plants or grain sprouting up across the earth because
the Lord God hadn't sent any rain. There was no man to farm the soil yet. Note well that God
is orderly in His dealings. He made the world in such a way that one thing
depended on another. He followed a certain order. Plants couldn't just
grow unless their was rain.
So at the time under question why did God
restrain the rain? Why was there no rain?
Because if it rains, plants will definitely
grow.Let's take note that plants are good things for the earth; plants are
parts of the things needed to support life on the earth. Plants represents the
blessings we are seeking from God. But as good as they are, things will get out
of hands without a manager.
When men are looking for rain or for different
blessings, what God is looking for is a right man. God does not commit things
in the hands of "anyhow person", neither does he allow vacuum.
God hates to waste resources. God wants to be sure that if there is a garden,
there must be gardener. God wants to be sure that if He provides a farm, then
there must be a farmer to farm it. Certain droughts are as a result of
spiritual droughts in the life of people experiencing it. In the story of Jacob
and Esau, God said: "Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated" (Romans9:13 and Malacai1:2-3). Why? It is not the
person of Esau that God hates rather the personality. Esau's lifestyle was
riotous and wasteful. God cannot commit important things like the destiny of
Israel into such hands. Note that between Esau and Jacob, God could have named
any of them Israel but He chose the one who positioned himself well. Jacob valued what it means to be a firstborn - a covenant carrier; but Esau sold out.
The lesson God will have us learn today is the
fact that rain which represents the blessings, the revival and
expectations in our hearts will be granted once God spots what He is desiring in the life of man. And what God is looking for is nothing but His image. He made man in
His image and until man lost the image of God through disobedience, the soil was yielding. When God
finds a man who is ready to obey Him no matter the cost, rain falls. Spiritual
rain is important in the flourishing of a Christian therefore I am praying that
God's release will fall for you dear reader in Jesus name. Flourish!
Pray: Lord may your rain of blessing fall
for me that I may abound unto good works in Jesus name.
