The Gift of God

Scriptural Highlight: (John 3:16) - "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life."

Our scriptural highlight for today talks about God's love for the world. God loved the world. He didn't just stop  at "I love the world", He gave. And what God gave was His only Son, Jesus Christ. One day I made some sacrifices that cost me something big; I thought this was it; God must appreciate this. God offcourse appreciated but He told me something. He said to me "Until you give your all....." There is nothing we can do for God that outweighs what He already did for us. Some people become unusually proud because maybe they sponsored God's work, or their tithe is usually bigger than others and all that.

If not for the gift of Jesus, the world was doomed; we were headed for death, we were in the world without hope. The gift of Jesus was simply the love of God reaching out to an undeserving people. He did not mind all the atrocities of the world, the filthiness, the uncleanness, the despicable acts of humanity. Bible is clear that without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin (Hebrews 9:22). He chose to shed His blood. John 15:13 says, "Greater love hath no one than this: to lay down one's life for his friend." Jesus did so that we might not perish.

However, all these love and priviledges in Christ are for those that believe in Jesus: "...so that whosoever believes should not perish but have eternal life. Eternal life is God's kind of life - Zoweh. It is a life of glory and triumph.

The gift of God is eternal life. And eternal life contains the following:
  1. Life of glory: Hebrew 2:10 -  For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
  2. Guidance and leadership of the indwelling Holy Spirit: John 14:15-17 - "If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. "I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.…
  3. Divine health:  (Isaiah 53:5) - But he was wounded for our transgressions, and he was crushed for our iniquities, and the punishment that made us whole was upon him, and by his bruises we are healed.
  4. Blessings: Galatians 2:13 - Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole."
  5. Authority over powers: Ephesians 1:22 - "And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church,…"
  6. Hope of life after death-heaven: 1Corinthians15:19 - "If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied."
Having highlighted this few points on the gift on God, make up your mind today that you will not miss out of what God has freely given. Flourish!

Pray: Father in Heaven I believe in the Lord Jesus and confess Him as my Lord and Saviour. Let divine life in Christ overtake me from today in Jesus name.

You Shall Floursh

Scriptural Highlight: ( Psalm 92:12_13 ) - "The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Labanon; plated in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the  courts of our God." The name of our devotional  in this platform is Daily Flourish and the revelation behind it is simply our scriptural highlight for today. The word of God is telling us today the undeniable attributes of the righteous: they flourish. To flourish is to succeed despite obstacles, challenges or bad climate. To flourish is to bring forth praise unto God. Today's devotional will not be enough to exhaust what it means for the righteous to flourish what is important is for you to understand what God has made us to become. Firstly, why did God compare the success of the righteous to that of palm tree? The palm tree is a tree whose growth is unique : In some conditions it may take long before it springs up but definitely it would spring up. There is nothing about ...

GOD IS YOUR SHIELD   Scriptural Highlight: ( Job 3:5 ) - " But put forth thy hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face." Beloved, looking closely at our scriptural highlight for today, you can easily see the devil's wish against God's children -evil. He is always making moves to destroy us, and to destroy the testimony we have in Christ. He suggested to  God to put forth His hand to harm Job. In John 10:10 Jesus revealed to us that "the thief (devil) comes to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly." But one thing we must note in this scriptural highlight is the helplessness of the devil where it concerns God's children. He has no power over us; he cannot even harm nor hinder us. The shield of God is always surrounding us. In Jesus we have life in abundance. In fact, after the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, we (believers in Jesus) were made to be seate...
